being effective

A farmer could find a nest of a goose on one of the trees in his field, when he approached the nest he could find an egg of the goose which was yellowish in color, it was shining with different brightness hence the farmer tried to pull it and he could see that it was a golden egg, he was happy and surprised beyond limits and with all the happiness he went home. He could not control himself next day and got up early in the morning to see the status in the nest on that day, he went to the farm and observed that again there was a golden egg in the goose nest. He was overwhelmed with joy and happiness again. Thus everyday he used to get up early in the morning and without any delay he used to rush to his farm to see the golden egg, this has become his routine which has brought him a great life with all the wealth he could think about. His greed for the golden egg increased day by day and he could not control his patience, the greed increased but the patience decreased, so one day he thought why keep waiting for the egg daily instead let me kill the goose and get all the golden eggs possible within an attempt. So he killed the goose and tried to find out the eggs however he was left with no egg as the goose died, eventually there were no eggs for him and no source of wealth as such. He has done the damage himself due to his greed and impatience. Dr. Stephen Covey has mentioned this meaningful story in his book, 7 habits of highly effective people. Dr. Covey says, Goose was the Production Capability (PC)and the Egg was the Production ( P ).He says Effectiveness in Life and work comes when one maintains this P and PC balance. Sometimes we are so focused upon the result that we forget the means of reaching to the result / output. Leaders are so concerned about the result that sometimes they forget to care for the teams which bring them result. Sometimes we are absolutely mad in getting the best in life and achieving the best possible but we neglect our health physical and mental. Thought process and it's impact upon human physiology...

Dear Friends, A prisoner was about to be hanged as per the court orders, the Psychologists wanted to use this opportunity to study human mind and it's impact upon the Physiology. They went to the jail authorities and suggested a different way out to punish the Prisoner, after receiving confirmation they went back to the prisoner and explained the game plan. The Psychologists said to the prisoner that he won't be hanged and do not have to go through the painful process of death rather he would be sited in the chair with eyes closed, he would be bitten by King Kobra and within a minute he would be dead. The prisoner agreed with this plan, it was arranged as per the plan...the prisoner was sited in the chair post all the formalities for the event, his eyes were closed by the dark black cloth so that he could not see anything outside, instead of King Kobra the Psychologist used two pins to bite the prisoner's body like that of the snakes action...despite the fact that the prisoner was not at all touched by King Kobra he died. It was further found that the poison of the King Kobra was within his blood...this was quite surprising to the Psychologists. The Psychologist's could understand the impact and intensity of thought process upon human physiology...positive, optimistic thoughts has a different impact and the negative, frustrating thoughts has a negative impact altogether. Thoughts process within the mind creates a proportional effect within the entire body...in the famous movie, 'The Secret" which is based upon the book, "The Secret" by Rhoda Byron describes this phenomenon quite vividly. The law of attraction mentioned in the book has a fundamental base in human thoughts which has magnetic power. Dear Friends, When our body and mind comes in contact with people, situations and things we form our own impression about them which in a way makes us respond accordingly. So the impression we form about anything we come in contact with is pretty important while dealing with them cause our response is directly proportional to the impression we form. Do we form an impression the way things are or do we form an impression the way we see them ...??? We might say we form the impression the way things are however when thought deeply the mechanism of mind's response to an external activity is based upon the way the mind interprets it, sees it which very much depends upon the way we are ...hence being is seeing is the fundamental truth. In a similar situation two people with different mindsets will have different impressions about the same, one might focus upon the problem and the other might see an opportunity. Tremendous success has been created by the one's who had absolute no sources or resources despite terrific situations around, loudly justifies the fact that it was their interpretation which made them fight with situations and make way to the heights...hence having that inner nucleus which believes in achievements of goals well supported by perseverance inside based upon tremendous capacity to work hard goes a long way in making things happen despite plenty of challenges. Dr.Mashelkar said in his opinion Dr.Kalam followed 3 important principles which contributed a lot to his splendid success...Passion, Innovation and Compassion. Scientific temperament was very much the capability of Dr. Kalam, his passion for Science and Teaching ( he wanted to be a teacher besides his scientific temperament and after his retirement he pursued the same as his career till death). Innovation but obviously was his nature his passion for learning new things could fetch him the responsibility of leading India's Integrated Missile Program as his boss Mr.Tipnis said. Many developments in SLV ( Satellite launching Vehicle) programs could be contributed to his innovative abilities only. His innovative nature reflects into his Vision for a Super Power India, in his book Vision 2020he has written deeply about many fronts whereby India as country can rise to be the Super Power. He liked reading, writing, teaching, research, music etc. also shows Innovation was his nature. conditioning has immense effect upon life and work...

Dear Friends, An egg of an Eagle was kept for hatching along with the chicken eggs...after hatching, there were Chicken birds and the Eagle bird , they were growing together for another six months. It was observed that the Eagle bird which has the innate capacity to fly was not flying at all, which was something unusual. No Chicken birds could fly hence no body around the Eagle bird was flying and since it has seen that none of them is flying right from day one, it also forgot it's own capacity and as a result the Eagle bird also could not fly. Such is the immense effect of conditioning, inner world when comes in contact with the external world gets influenced, the reflexes could be seen upon the inner world. Positive conditioning leads to positive change and negative conditioning leads to negative effect...one can not exercise control upon the happening in the external world however one can exercise fullest control while responding to those situations or one can chose to be positively influenced and not otherwise. Maturity, self conscious and spiritual growth within helps a person to chose responses to the happenings around us so that one can selectively march ahead. People with distant vision, people with focus and determination are less affected with such external developments because of their inner toughness. truth can be seen by innocence and courage...

Dear Friends, A king was exceedingly interested in being presentable for which he used to change his dress code every hour of the day, contrary to the notion that King is in the court, people used to say king is in the dressing room, such was his dressing mania. One day swindlers arrived in the kingdom and started promoting the idea that they can weave a beautiful dress which would be so magnificent and awesome, it can be so magical that it would locate the unfit person in his job due to it's secret weaving technique, the unfit person will not be able to see anything through it however a capable person can see it's beauty. The king heard about this and called these swindlers to meet him. The duo impressed the king with their tactical promotion and asked for a high quality fabric along with loads of gold to make it. The king has given them every support to finish the task. These guys have transported all those things to their territory and pretended as if they are working hard and very soon they would make things happen. It has been weeks time and the king was desperately wanted know the status but given the fact that the clothes may find out the unfit person in him he has asked his reliable personnel to have a look at the developments. The king's authorities went to the location and seen that only weaving machines were there and nothing was happening there, but out of the fear that they if they did speak the truth they would be held the culprit ,as not being able to see anything was a proof that the person is unfit for his profile so they appreciated the work, the clothes, the designs etc. They both reported to the king about the magnificent clothes being woven by the swindlers. On the day when the king was about to wear the dress and present it before the public through a procession the swindlers pretended as if they have done a great job by weaving the magical dress code for the king, the king was also unable to see anything but to avoid being found as the unfit person for his profile he also admired the clothes. Everybody out there admired the work of the swindlers out of the fear that they might be found as the unfit personnel, so it went on when the child out there said, hey, there is nothing, the king is wearing nothing and all of a sudden with some courage one after the other everybody started speaking the truth. The swindlers were punished for their trick. It takes innocence and courage to speak the truth, in social or organizational life many are aware of the truth but can't speak the truth...until truth is accepted honestly, the situation can't be changed. Dear Friends, The term Paradigm was first introduced by John Kunh in his landmark book, "The history of scientific revolutions" . It is about our perceptions, point of views, it is the way we interpret the situation and people around. The impression we form is based upon the Paradigm we develop, which says the paradigm we develop makes us respond to the external world accordingly. So paradigm is the key for our response to the external world we interact on a day to day basis. The important part is our paradigm may not be the reality, we may not be able to develop a true picture of the reality, there might be a difference between our interpretation and the facts. It was initially believed that earth is the centre of the Planetary movements, Copernicus came up with his theory stating that all the Planets revolve around the Sun and the paradigm people had changed from there. Napoleon's army was depressed looking at the fact that the enemy was 10 times bigger in count and they refused to fight the battle, Napoleon could understand their paradigm and convinced them, any which way they will be killed by the enemy due to their strength however if each one of them killed 10 enemies they can win the battle. The paradigm of the soldiers changed and they won the battle. There was a Paradigm shift. Each one of us have Paradigm based upon Genetic factor, parental upbringing, environmental factors and education, there is a possibility that they might be wrong also. Dear Friends, A man boarded the train with his son, he sat in the train and his son preferred to stand and watch the scenario around. The boy was absolutely surprised to see the train, the public and the entire thoroughfare happening around, the feelings of extreme happiness and surprise could be seen on his face and through his voice and actions too. When the train started, he used to dance looking at the trees, the hills , the river and he was radiating all his happiness for all that he was able to see around. The co-passenger was irritated by the boy's behavior, he could not control himself and asked his father, "don't your son know that they are trees, they are hills...he is such a grown up kid, is he mad or what ?". The person said, "Sir, I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to you however let me tell you that, my son has been blind for all these years, he was operated yesterday and he could see the world with his own eyes today hence he is behaving this way" .The co-passenger was all the sorry for his stand having heard this answer from the boy's father. Seek to understand and then to be understood is a principle of empathy whereby we should try to understand the point of view of the people around before we conclude and comment. Many conflicts and misunderstanding can be settled on both fronts when we all try to follow this principle in letters and spirits . Empathetic listening is a key for this to happen.
